: : I hear "naked to the human eye" occasionally which seems illogical. "Invisible to the naked eye", makes more sense. Is the former just a corruption which has come into common usage?

: I have to say that it is not a usage that I have heard. Where have you heard/seen it?

: As you say, it doesn't seem, on the face of it, to make much sense.

I had never heard of it, and was amazed to find that Google finds 44,900 hits. I can only speculate that somebody who wasn't listening to themselves speak garbled "to the naked human eye" to "naked to the human eye", and that this has been dumbly copied by other people who don't listen to themselves speaking.
