Naked to the human eye

I hear "naked to the human eye" occasionally which seems illogical. "Invisible to the naked eye", makes more sense. Is the former just a corruption which has come into common usage?

I have to say that it is not a usage that I have heard. Where have you heard/seen it?

As you say, it doesn't seem, on the face of it, to make much sense.
