God bless us and save us said old Mrs Davies

"God bless us and save us said old Mrs Davies". A phrase my father used to use in his latter years, generally when exhausted by simple tasks he would have once taken in his stride. I think this MAY derive from an old nursery rhyme called "Fire, Fire", but can't find the text of this, nor do I have any idea of its date. There is a recent re-write of the rhyme as a US childrens book, it seems, but this takes me no further forward as to the derivation.
