Sonny Buck

Does anyone know the origin of the phrase "Sonny Buck"? My 84-year-old father overheard me calling my oldest son that, and said that his own father called him that when he was a boy. Although the phrase appears here and there on the web (it is the name of a racehorse, for instance) I can't find any history on it.
