: : : Does anyone know the title and author of a poem recited by Alfalfa in the Little Rascals/Our Gang films? It begins with him in school (in Miss Crabapple's class, of course) reciting, in an exaggerated way, 'I saw a lit-tle daff-o-dil...'in school. Is it odd that this should pop into my head on Easter morning? Thanks again.

: : You're not alone. Several people are trying to find this poem. One inquiry said a line from it was "and I skinned my little shin."

: I don't know the poem, but I must point out that the teacher in the Little Rascals/Our Gang movies was "Miss Crabtree". The name "Mrs. Crabapple" (accent on the 2nd syllable) is the name of Bart Simpson's teacher.

I am finding lots of information about the episode, but not the poem. Who wants to rent the video?

Brisbane attempts to memorize a poem about picking daffodils in "Readin' and Writin'" .

It's Brisbane's (Kenneth McKenna) first day of school, but since he'd rather grow up to be a streetcar conductor than president, he learns tips on how to get expelled. None of his tricks work, but once he throws a giant spitwad at Sherwood (Sherwood Bailey), his refusal to memorize and recite Sherwood's sappy poem does the trick. But be careful of what you wish for....

This was the first Our Gang appearance for Kendall McComas, who played "Breezy Brisbane" throughout his one year in the series. Brisbane (Kendal McComas) - (10/29/16 - 10/15/81) - Known as Breezy Brisbane. He became an electrical engineer at the U.S. Naval Weapons Center in China Lake, California. Like many child actors he was small for his age and never grew taller that five feet. In 1981, two weeks before his 65th birthday and apparent forced retirement he committed suicide.
