: Mind if I ask why you guys used the asterisk in the middle of a certain word?

...often the word L*tin came up in posts, since it forms the roots of so many words, and this led to this site featuring near the top of lists in search engines when one typed in +l*tin +phrase. We then got more and more snowed under with requests to translate phrases into or from L*tin (long-term posters will remember the guy with the tattoo), and that detracted from the main purpose of this web board. Hence, it's now custom here to type L*tin, and even Gr**k, if you like.
