: : Hello, does anyone know the origins of the expression "shallow grave"? What are its connotations on top of its literal meaning? Can it be used only in the context of murders/potential murders?
: : Thank you,

: Murderers usually don't have time to dig a six-feet-deep grave. So their victims are found in "shallow graves." That's the only meaning I know.
Also others in a hurry, such as escaping from an enemy attack or other type of adversity.
