: "Step off, Bill Clinton has done nothing wrong, and y'all are just a bunch of player haters." From a column by Joel Stein in Time magazine, Feb. 26, 2001.

: When I read this I thought maybe "step off" was another way of saying: "In the first place." "First of all." or "From Jump Street." However, a teenage member of my household says "step off" is another way of saying "get out of my face" or "step back Jack."

: Any ideas?

The teens are right. There was a famous episode of "Seinfeld" where "step off" became a running joke.
