Ogre's choice

Hi. I would love to find out the origin of the phrase "the ogre's choice". The phrase is somewhat related to Hobson's choice, but it means you are facing an impossible choice, either choice means disaster. The original thought is of an ogre that has captured someone and gives them this choice: "You die fast or die slow, either way you will still die".
I would love to find an origin for this phrase. It can be found occasionally in internet postings, news articles, and even in books (Google book search turns it up).
