British, Scottish, Irish Phrases

Does anyone have some book or Web-link recommendations for English-language phrases of British, Scottish, and Irish origin? Over here in America, this is where so many of our most familiar phrases (the old chestnuts) originated.

I suspect some of the other immigrants (Dutch, French, Spanish, German, and others) also contributed phrases, translated into English -- especially maxims and proverbs.
