Eye candy

Eye candy: I believe that while the original meaning for eye candy was as referenced, it, along with ear candy, now has a positive meaning. I think arm candy also has metamorphosed but it tends to depend on which gender is using the phrase as to whether it has a positive or negative connotation.

In the artistic world, I often hear both patrons and other artists use the phrase as a commplement such as "I would love to have that eye candy on my wall" or "that is delightful eye candy. Great work." I think this phrase has gone through a metamorphosis and no longer has the same "worthless" meaning with which it may have started. Has this been explored?
