Drive the porcelain bus

'Drive the porcelain bus' - Spoken by Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, referring to a bout of illness caused by eating a meat pie at a game of footy.

I think it means clutching the toilet as you vomit, but I'm curious as to where the phrase originated. Might be a Queenslander expression?
