: : : What does "you're too hard on yourself" mean?

: : You are too critical of yourself. Set standards for yourself that are too high.

: I'd like to propose a small revision of ESC's post, since I don't think it's entirely clear that she has offered two meanings. Read the second sentence as "Or you set standards for yourself..."

: Otherwise said, in being critical of yourself you can be too harsh or severe a critic. Or you may set standards for yourself that are too hard (difficult) to accomplish. I hope this accords with ESC's meaning. If it does not, please set us straight, ESC.

You're being too hard on me. (Smile.)
