I have long missed the opportunity to salute the flag without hypocrisy, to march with an entire community into the graveyard to decorate the graves of dead soldiers, and to be patriotic without reservations. I haven't prayed in fifty years, but if I did so it would be to express my hope that all America's warriors, young or old, male or female, can quickly and safely find their way home.
