Pete and Joe

I have two questions. The first expression is with respect to ones feet. For example, "How are you going to get home, Pete and Joe?" Meaning one foot is Pete and the other Joe. Where does the expression come from?
The second phrase is "...had the radish" As in my shoes have had the radish. Meaning they are worn out. I have only heard one person outside my family use the expression and am curious as to the origin.
