: I'm looking for the origin of the quote, "What goes around, comes around." I realize that there are a number of variations on this same quote, and the origins of any would be helpful, but if anyone knows the origin of this form, I'd love to know it! Thanks!

"What you do or say today will come back to you in the future. The proverb originated in the United States in the 1970s. The earliest appearance in print was 1974 in Eddie Stone's book, 'Donald Writes No More.' The Russian equivalent is...'As the call, so is the echo.'..." From Random House Dictionary of Popular Proverbs and Sayings by Gregory Y. Titelman (Random House, New York, 1996).

I thought the saying was a lot older. Anyone have an earlier citation?
