It's from the title of Kubrick's film - but I expect you know that. Again, pretty obviously, it's a play on the phrase 'eyes wide open', meaning - with a full understanding of what to expect.

The film explores the need for a certain degree of deception in a marriage. My take on what's meant by 'eyes wide shut' is that it is necessary to turn a blind eye to some failings to keep a relationship alive.
