Wild hair

The entire expression as I have heard it (W.Va., Ky.) is to "get a wild hair up your a**" or "get a hair across your a**). Guessing at the origin, sometimes people with curly hair will have one grow inward. That, I imagine, would be quite irritating and especially so if it was on or near one's a**. And that irritation would often translate into wild behavior.
