: : : : : Fifty-thousand-foot statement.

: : : : : What is a fifty-thousand-foot statement? Thanks!

: : : : I've heard "thirty-thousand-foot overview" (pick a big number) meaning "a general description without too much detail" of a project. I guess someone in sales or marketing may ask a technical person for a "fifty thousand foot statement" as to what a new project is intended to accomplish.

: : : The intent being that the greater the number the less detailed and more concise the answer?

: : More strategic and less tactical.

: I've never heard this expression. Does it suggest an overview without detail, like a view from an aircraft at 50,000 feet?

Yes, but I've almost always heard it as 30,000 feet (a normal altitude for aircraft.) Leave the tactical details aside ... what are the overall goals and strategies.
