"A hot five... or a cold seven"
While waiting for the gates to open at a baseball stadium in Washington, DC, an African-American ticket-taker, aged about 30, called out to the waiting crowd, "we'll be open in a hot five! A hot five... or a cold seven!"
I never heard that phrase before, but it was pretty clear that he was virtually guaranteeing that the gates would open in five mintues. The guy was hedging a little with the "cold seven" part. I don't know if it's an African-American expression, or Southern, etc.
