Blood simple

I heard a talk recently and the speaker was describing a process (creating a web site through five steps) as "blood simple." Has anyone heard that phrase? What is its origin?

Well, it was a heck of a good movie by the Coen brothers in 1984. It may have been their first. That doesn't help much, but I'll recommend the flick anyway.
