Canadian, eh?/ Youbetcha

: The PF family includes a number of US residents, and those from the UK, New Zeland, and Australia. I have not noticed many postings from Canada. Having lived in Toronto on several occasions, there are a number of expressions that Canadians use regularly that could be shared with this group. Are there any Canadians out there?

I am so very close to Canada that many humorous inflections make their way into our everyday life and communication. We also have a heavy Norwegian influence on our language here that lends itself to some very amusing dialects and contributions. "Eh" is one example that you mentioned.
Q. How do you spell Canada?
A. C "eh" N "eh" D "eh"

A familiar dialectic affirmation overheard from some of our 'locals' is "yassir, you betcha,eh" meaning, of course, "yes sir, you bet!"
This leads to the story of the 'local' who married a Palestinian girl. They had a son and named him, you guessed it, "Yassir Youbetcha, Eh!"
Our language is widely travelled and greatly amusing and challenging. Thanks to PF for creating such an interesting exchange of ideas and contributions.
