: : : What is the significance of nine inch nails? Are these the size nails that Jesus was crucified with?

: : I researched this a few months back because I wondered if there was any significance - it turns out the group say that they just randomly made up the name. Personally, I think that is being disingenuous as '9-inch' would suggest an above-average penis length (so I understand) and 'to nail' is a crude expression for having sexual congress - the group claimed that there was no sexual reference in their title, but I find that unlikely.

: Pamela, are you 100% sure you don't mean nine-penny nails? There's a world of difference. Just a thought. SS

: A:2 "What does nine inch nails mean?"
In the words of Trent Reznor of the group Nine Inch Nails:
"I don't know if you've ever tried to think of band names, but usually you think you have a great one and you look at it the next day and it's
stupid. I had about 200 of those. nine inch nails lasted the two-week test, looked great in print, and could be abbreviated easily. It really doesn't have any literal meaning. It seemed kind of frightening. [In his best he-man voice] Tough and manly! It's a curse trying to come up with band names."
