: : : Here's a sentence-

: : : I'm 'between' jobs= jobless?

: : : Thanks a million!

: : Jobless or job searching.

: Also: considering other career opportunities. Or "spending time with his family."

:::"Considering other employment"

::Laid-off --- another polite term for out-of- work. This suggests the lack of employment is not the result of inadequate performance (where the individual would be fired!) but because of more global issues which affected the prior employer and forced a reduction in staff.
