Help needed in translating Old Possum's book...

Hello!
I don't know if I am in the right place, cut I will try anyway.
I am translating ts Eliot's Old Possum's Book to Hebrew.
So far I translated the first song - The Naming of Cats. It came out real fine, rhythm and rhymes, and here it is:

I need some help understanding the names.
Here are my first two questions:
1. what does Possum's Book mean? a pocket book? Is it an Eliot invention?
2. What is Gumbie cat?
