: Could anyone please tell me which is the meaning of the adjective "wall-to-wall"? Context is this: A character in a novel says he's "fleeing from the wall-to-wall 'One Year After' TV specials." Thank you.
The comparison is to wall-to-wall carpet, or carpet that covers the whole floor of a house without any gaps. It implies that these television specials are relentless and impossible to avoid if one watches any television at all.
