'like kissing your sister'
In the US, when we are underwhelmed by the possibliity of doing something, it is said to be like 'kissing your sister' -- meaning that it is no special thing. The antipathy to sister kissing may well be a male orientation in the States. Is it elsewhere?
Specifically, the quote is "a tie is like kissing your sister." A quick tour around Google shows this sports cliche has a very Whole-9-Yard-like authorship. In five minutes I found it attributed to four different American football coaches, each time with unhesitating attribution. Detectives?
