Oh, this brings back that old nostalgia. I remember "lookit" from childhood. Children used to say it. I thought of it as a single (slang) word. I think it stood for "look at," as in "Look at the mouse on Mrs. Johnson's hat!"

I guess I'm just not as offended as you are. Cheer up, maybe the next person will be.
