: : : I am not 100% on this but I think Mr. Clancy is talking about a sexual preference.
: : : A "chicken" is usually an underage person and the "basket" refers to some type of bondage/S+M thing. Some vacation tour firms, mostly here in the US and Germany, put together special vacations for pedophiles to visit Asian countries where these type of predilections can be purchased.

: I thought it was a sexual preference also, but I couldn't find anything on the web about chicken in a basket referring to anything sexual. In other areas of the novel, it's stated that the girl isn't underaged, and neither is there any other reference to bondage. Thanks for responding, though. Cool website.
