: I was told the origin of a "pig in a blanket" (sausage, hot dog, etc in the middle of biscuit dough) was a way for a person whose religious faith forbid eating meat (or pork) to enjoy meat without it looking like the forbidden meat was being consumed. Is this correct? Thanks!

Smells fishy to me.
