: : Hi,
: : have you heard of this phrase "Irish fortune" and what does it refers to?

: Do you mean 'the luck of the Irish?' The Irish are perceived by some to be luckier than other nationalities. For example, the Republic of Ireland's soccer team reached the quarter finals of the World Cup in 1990(?) without winning a single game. Other teams in the same group lost more games than the Irish, so didn't qualify. However, being Irish I can assure you that the perception is a myth perpetuated by Disney and the Irish Tourist Board.

I was going to guess that it's an ethnic slur. Like "Mexican breakfast" is having little or no good. "Irish fortune" would mean poor.
