: : What is the meaning of "I came, I saw, I conquered"? ; "All Road lead to Rome"? and " RomeWasn't Buit in a DDDay"?
: Julius Caesar was a young, brash, and quite effective commander of the Roman forces that set out to conquer the known world of their day. Your quote was originally in Latin - vini, vidi, vici -and is still the most succinct report of a complete military victory - in this case Gual, which is now modern France.
: All roads lead to Rome is a justifiable boast of the Roman Empire, since they extended their spiderweb - like road system to every part of their empire. Eventually, all roads did lead to Rome, the capitol of the empire.
: Your last phrase about "Rome wasn't built in a day" is more or less self-explanatory. No great undertaking such as the construction of a vast and beautiful city such as Rome could have been accomplished in a short time-frame.
Without wanting to appear too picky, the L*tin phrase attributed to JC was "veni, vidi, vici". It's worth noting that the L*tin "v" tends to be pronounced as a "w". A relatively famous British book entitled "1066 And All That" which parodies the way history was taught in schools, claimed that what Caesar actually said upon seeing the Gauls aka French was "weeny, weedy, weaky" - perhaps a foresighted comment, given the modern French administration's stance on the Iraq crisis.
