When a farmer referred to how he was going to handle a calf with a broken leg, he said:

"I can put it down or I can put it right."

What does he mean?

Putting an animal down is to euthanize it. Kill it to put it out of its misery. So he can either kill the animal or try to put it right and fix the broken leg.
