: My father used a saying, "shot (or shod?) in the saddle" to mean convinced. Such as; when I came up with an idea that he went along with but with reservations he would say, " Well, ok...but I'm not so shot in the saddle about that!" Has anyone else heard the saying and if so, where does it come from? Did I just not hear him correctly?

I haven't found it -- either shot or shod. I've looked in a cowboy slang reference and a regional reference.
