: Has anybody out there ever heard of (or played) kelly pool? If so I would like to learn more about this particular version of the game. The basic rules are given in Webster's Third New International Dictionary, but I would like to know if the game is (still) actually played (and if so where) and in what particular way it is different from standard pool. If you should happen to know how the name originated I would be especially happy to hear from you. Webster has nothing to say on the matter.
A longish description of the rules is at http://www.onthesnap.com/rules/kelly_pool.htm%20(link below). Typing "kelly pool" in the box at www.google.com will get you more information. Companies advertising equipment for this game seem to be concentrated in the U.K. and Australia, so maybe the players are too.
