Square = Old Fashioned Person
So when someone uses that phrase they are really saying:
Loosen up a bit and don't be so conservative and old fashioned in your views.
The modern version, which I hear from my kids, is:
"Oh Daddy, you are such a dork, why can't I stay out overnite at Matt's house after the party. His parents will be home."
Yeah, right!
