: : : : Does anybody know the origin of this phrase? It means something along the lines of "I'm going to teach you a lesson".

: : : WHOLE LOTTA LOVE
: : : Led Zeppelin

: : : You need coolin', baby, I'm not foolin',
: : : I'm gonna send you back to schoolin',
: : : Way down inside honey, you need it,
: : : I'm gonna give you my love,
: : : I'm gonna give you my love.

: : : Wanna Whole Lotta Love?
: : : Wanna Whole Lotta Love?
: : : Wanna Whole Lotta Love?
: : : Wanna Whole Lotta Love?

: : : OK. Maybe it's not the origin. But it's still cool.

: : ...and it features one of the best mid-song guitar riffs of all time... and I now have to go and find the CD and play it over and over again.

: Cathy, I'm afraid we aren't being much help. I haven't heard this phrase used the way you describe, and it isn't in my reference books.

I'm wondering if this is the equivalent of a malproism but for a phrase. It reminds me of a friend's elderly mother who used to scream "Suck gravy pig!" at people whose driving she didn't like. It was all the more comical because she was tiny and had to sit on a phone book to see over the steering wheel.(Which probably isn't legal, come to think of it.)

Anyway, it turned out she'd watch Saturday Night Live - back when it was well written, obviously - and had got the phrase "Die you gravy-sucking pigs", hopelessly confused.
