Purely speculative on my part...for which I apologize (not very academic of me). But I'd place a small wager on this being a (ahem!) flatulence-related reference. Probably gasped out by someone after a real nose-wrinkler. i.e. "Whose rhino ate the hard-boiled eggs?", etc.
