King's Contrivence
Does anybody know the meaning of this? Or is it simply the King's wishes or pleasure?
I've never heard of "King's Contrivence"; could it be "King's Contrivance"? The change of spelling, whilst making creating a word which has a meaning, does not, of itself, render an understanding of the meaning, or origin, of the phrase. In what context is the phrase used; this may help in tracking it down?
