: : : : "As soon as I get out the hoover, you're up it!" a complaint by Hugo Barrett in Harold Pinter's The Servant. What might this phrase mean?
: : : Hoover = vacuum cleaner.
: : Five screenplaysý - Page 47
: : by Harold Pinter - Drama - 1973 - 367 pages
: : You're supposed to be the bloody servant! BARRETT. You expect me to cope with
: : all this muck and ... As soon as I get the Hoover going you're straight up it.
: : exact quote of the line
: 1963, not 1973. It was on Turner Classic about two weeks ago.
The date given was for the book "Five Screenplays". The last movie in the book "The Go-Between" wasn't made until 1970. The 1963 date is for the movie "The Servant".
