I just stumbled upon your site and found it very interesting.

My Grandfather who's from Texas has quite a few sayings that I didn't see posted. One is: a five dollar horse with a fifty dollar saddle. You could use it to describe any number of obvious situations. I thought it might be worth adding to your list of American sayings. Sorry this is not a question, however if you've anything to add, I'd be interested. Cheers
