Rody bacon

In the late 60's when I was growing up (in Burtonwood Lancashire - now Cheshire) my mum sometimes sent me to the corner shop. I was always reminded to ask for one pound of ''roady''? - ''rodey''? bacon.
I think it was either middle-cut or streaky.
Does anyone else recall this term or where it might have originated?

regards

Dave

The Oxford English Dictionary has "rody," streaked alternately with lean and fat, as a dialectal variant of "roded." Use of "roded" is recorded from 1848.

"Roded . . . [Of obscure origin . . . ] Streaky. (Generally used of bacon.)"

But all the bacon I've ever seen was streaky.
