: What's the origin of "two heads are better than one"?

It's just a very old proverb. The oldest recorded version, from John Gower's "Confessio Amantis" written in 1390, is "Tou han more wit then on". The oldest recorded use of the modern form is Heywood's "Dialogue of Proverbs", published 1546. (VSD)
