: This isn't the only time Shakespeare, who is so accustomed to creating characters for the stage, talks of life as though it were a stage play. One of his most famous soliloquies is that of the embattled Macbeth:

: Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow,
: Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,
: To the last syllable of recorded time;
: And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
: The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!
