What is the meaning of the phrase "to leave many screws in the pocket".

How is the phrase used? The meaning might be a clue to the origin. I have never heard it. But it makes me think of a situation where a person is putting together a "some assembly required" object. And after the item is put together, parts including screws are leftover.
