"Scream the house down"

I have a slight idea of the meaning, but since I'm not a native I'd appreciate your help!!

"Well huff and we'll puff and we'll blow the house down." Well, that's not screaming the house down, but perhaps it belongs in the same family. "I'll scream so hard the house will fall down!" "She threatened to scream the house down." Well, houses do not fall because of someone's screaming, so we have to chalk it up to exaggeration. The phrase means scream embarrassingly long and loud.
