: In "It's been one hell of a ride"
: What does this sentence mean? What's the connotation of "one hell of a" (is it to say the following thing good or bad)? And also there a many different meanings of "ride", so what's the meaning of the "ride" here?

I believe it means exhilarating with highs and lows and in betweens. Good and bad. A life or experience full of adventure. The image I get is riding on a horse. Maybe a bucking bronco. Maybe just tearing along really fast. And the way I see it, the person speaking survived it all.
