The only reference I see is to the UK soap opera "Coronation Street".
PIFFY ON A ROCK-BUN
Vera to Jack on the occasion of Raquel leaving their employ. Vera wanted to go to bingo & her son Terry egged her on to show that she had the same respect from her staff that Bet Gilroy had commanded. Terry, ever the 'gentleman', egged her into a confrontation with Raquel. Raquel left anyway despite Jack trying to be conciliatory to all parties.
Jack: "Are you crackers? You have just sacked the best bar maid we will ever have. Just because you want to go to bingo."
Vera: "But I'm not going am I. I'm stuck here like a piffy on a rock-bun."
Jack: "All because your loving son won't give you a few hours of his precious time. Where's he off to that's so important, eh? Going to spend all his brass on the dogs is he?"
Vera: "Well, he takes after his precious father then doesn't he."
