"catch a bus" and "take a bus"

: I tend to use the 'catch' variant if I'm about to use a bus - 'I'm off to catch the bus'. The 'take' variant is a little more distant in the future. 'If I decide to go, I think I'll take the bus'(or 'go by bus').

to "catch a bus" is physically quite difficult and requires big arms, whereas to "take a bus" requires dishonest intent and the technical abilities learned in young offenders' institutions.

much better to "travel by bus" or use one.

['catch' is when there is a time-frame contemplated, 'take' is more casual, IMO]
