: : : What is the meaning of the 'SLIP OF THE TONQUE"?

Slip of the tongue is an obvious reference to one of the main uses of "slip." As a verb it means inadvertently to slide, sometimes to fall. It can refer to things or people. The noun derived from the verb, that is, "a slip," is an inadvertent (accidental) slide, putting you where you didn't want to be, or putting your tongue where you didn't want it to be. SS
